Apollyon

After you left

I actually listened

To your absence

It sang to me

Of love wrapped

In lies and subterfuge,

Of those hearts

Who bled screams of betrayal,

Of those limbs

Lost to a dead weight state,

Of your mind

A beautiful creature in its own right.

And then it sang of you:

Your voice, your hands and your eyes

A summation of desire

All stolen from those you

Destroyed.

You will carry them.

And we shall carry you

Like the devil on our shoulders.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done.

Till we ourselves lie

Broken in contempt.

Ever since you left

I’ve listened every day

And your absence takes

More space

Than you ever did.
