Where We Were

The city underwhelms me. All I see is routine,
dragged and stretched, a rarely disturbed scene.

Among the babel, a rut has trapped us, we've been

enraptured by the city lights - by an enigma we've never seen.

The hustle and bustle of silence, muted cries for mercy

Hidden underground somewhere in this vast uncertainty

I am just an observer of this grueling morbidity.

You, you look at me with unjustified pity

Stumbling upon your town not so far away,

peering inside, "This is where I want to stay".

I look for myself in your town's serenity -

and you, you're in love with the city?

Endless plush green lawns, simplicity of it all seduces me

Into this dystopia, I'm yanked into this suburgatory.

I've lost myself here too, not just in the city

Tormenting me slowly, it's a veiled monstrosity.

Gradually now, I'm in a trance,

I've found my peace, I've lost my chance

I block out the noise, the voices in my head run around

and in my solitude, it was me I found.
